IN LOVING MEMORY
Carolyn Richards
Brislyn Great Danes
This page is dedicated to the memory of my good friend and mentor, Carolyn Richards. Unfortunately, Carolyn passed away in 2004. She was a protector of all animals and bred Great Danes, Chow Chows, Keeschonds, and Schipperkes over many years. She was a life member of the Great Dane Club of Cleveland and Ravenna Kennel Club, as well as a member of the Great Dane Club of America. She was a retired high School counselor. Carolyn introduced me to this wonderful breed.
I will never forget one of the last days before Carolyn passed away. She was in the hospital and the nurses were kind enough to let us bring Murphy in to visit her. She was unconscious and Murphy nudged her arm. He couldn't understand why the lady he knew and loved would not pet him. It's hard to explain, but the something changed in the room at that moment, and he just put his head down on her bed for several minutes. It was like she was communicating with him, even though she hadn't been able to say anything for two days.
I will be forever grateful to Carolyn for Murphy and Chopper and for the contacts she helped me make with many of my closest friends in the breed and the dog show world. I wish I had asked her more questions. I wish she could be here with us to to see how her line and her memory lives on. Although she would certainly have her opinion, I hope she would be proud.
